The Well, located just 15 minutes from Oslo in Kolbotn, is a paradise for adults. Recognized by international magazines as one of the world’s best spas and bathhouses, The Well offers peace, relaxation, and revitalization surrounded by forest. With minimalist design and luxurious materials spanning over 20,000 square meters.

Here, you can experience 11 different pools, 15 saunas and steam baths, more than 100 showers, treatment rooms, lounges, bars, restaurants, and a hotel.

The Well is a place where body and soul come into harmony, and it is optional to bathe with or without swimwear. Only The Well’s specially developed swimwear is allowed. This swimwear is designed to dry quickly, thereby avoiding water spills. You can purchase swimwear at the reception, and it can of course be used again during future visits to the facility.

 

CONTINENTAL BATHING TRADITIONS

The Well is built on continental bathing traditions with natural nudity.

You may wear swimwear, but swimwear is not permitted in saunas and steam baths. In saunas and steam baths, you can choose to cover yourself with a towel or a pestemal.

Every Tuesday is Swimwear Day at The Well. Swimwear is mandatory all day.

 

Reception, changing rooms, hygiene, and comfort:

Upon arrival at The Well, check in at the reception and receive an electronic wristband. The changing rooms are separate for men and women, and you use the electronic wristband to unlock the lockers. After thoroughly washing your body in the changing room showers, put on a bathrobe and slippers and proceed to the facility.

In the facility, you must follow hygiene rules, including showering without swimwear before visiting saunas and steam baths. Comfort rules, which include a ban on mobile phone use, noisy behavior, and sexual activity, must also be observed.

Treatment

Sauna

Experience a wide variety of saunas at The Well. Choose between mild heat for a relaxing effect or intense heat to boost your circulation. The temperature in the saunas ranges from a comfortable 40 degrees to nearly 100 degrees for an intense experience. There are also numerous health benefits associated with saunas.

Pools & showers

Water has a calming effect on the body. Immerse yourself in a pool with comfortably warm water or enjoy the sensation of water flowing over your body from one of the many showers. At The Well, you can experience 9 different warm pools starting at 32 degrees, cold plunge pools, and over 100 different experiential showers.

Steam baths

Try the sensory-rich experience of a steam bath. High humidity, heat, and pleasant scents, along with beautiful interiors, make a visit to one of The Well’s steam baths a must. Steam is central to many bathing traditions and has numerous benefits for the body. In the steam bath, your skin is covered with condensed water, opening pores and making your skin silky smooth. Steam also has a very positive effect on the respiratory system.

Japanese bathhouse

In Japan, bathing rituals are an integral part of daily life, and bathing is considered a ceremony in itself. Experience Japanese bathing culture at The Well’s Japanese bathhouse. In Japan, bathing rituals are seen as a ceremony that cleanses both body and soul, and they are a central part of everyday life. At The Well, you can perform the same bathing rituals as in Japan when you visit the Japanese bathhouse.

Hamam

Heat, steam, scrubbing, and massage are the cornerstones of Hamam. The ritual has its roots in Central Asia and was popular in the Roman baths of the ancient Roman Empire.
